it's your sister's birthday, so you wore a 'fancy dress' to school today too.
i went to the corner to get you from school....in the freezing cold, wind whipping by me...noticing all the leaves still in the yard that need to be taken care of, the bush stumps we have to remove, the remnants of the hostas i never cut back, cursing under my breath that i was cold....
and then, there you were...with the crossing guard, chatting about your day...she said good-bye and you started skipping home.
and it made me smile.
